Common Goals

Extended School Day

In our continuing quest to do what is best for our students’ education, we are lengthening the school day just slightly this year in order to accommodate an addition instructional period!

As a result, the first bell with ring at 7:40 AM for students to exit the buses and enter the building where they will go directly to their classrooms rather than the cafeteria. Another bell will ring at 7:45 AM to announce the start of breakfast being served. Breakfast service will run from 7:45 – 8:05 when the warning bell will ring. The tardy bell will ring at 8:10 AM. (In the past it rang at 8:20 AM.) At the end of the day, the “Parent Pickup” bell will ring at 3:35 PM. (In the past it rang at 3:30 PM)

This alteration of bell times will allow us to implement an eight period instructional day to our schedule for middle school students. There will be 4 periods prior to lunch and 4 periods after lunch. This year, 6th through 8th grade lunch will switch to the second lunch period at 11:35 AM and the 3rd through 5th lunch period to the third lunch period at 12:05 PM.
