STEM Grant

The Glenwood R-VIII School District recently received a $10,000 grant from Missouri University of Science and Technology to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curricula. This funding was used to purchase new Chromebooks to give Glenwood students access to technology required for learning in the 21st Century Classroom. This new technology will allow students to conduct scientific research, participate in interactive learning opportunities, and prepare them for STEM educational opportunities and careers.

Thank you to Dave Hosick, Senior Program Director at Missouri S&T, and Wendell Bailey, founder of the Southern Alliance for Rural Development (SOAR), for advocating on behalf of rural school districts in Southern Missouri to receive this funding. Thank you also to the Missouri legislators who made this program possible through funding provided by the Missouri State Legislature. Several of these legislators visited Glenwood to celebrate this great opportunity including State Representative Karla Eslinger, State Representative David Evans, and State Senator Mike Cunningham. The Glenwood R-VIII School District greatly appreciates the support provided by this great group of individuals!
